چکیده

Abstract The work presents results on the effect of prior martensite formation bainite transformation kinetics in a 3% medium-Mn multiphase steel. material was subjected to two isothermal holding temperatures: 400 °C (without martensite) and 350 (with martensite). According obtained dilatometric results, leads acceleration kinetics. starts finishes much faster, when present before holding. microstructural investigation steel after heat treatment carried out using light scanning electron microscopy. microstructures were composed fine bainitic laths with retained austenite small amount martensitic-austenitic islands at °C. At presence large tempered detected. is mixture coarse laths. increase lath thickness attributed coalescence process occurring lower temperature. differences hardness treatments relatively (~ 13 HV10).

the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

The Effect of Nitrogen on Martensite Formation in a Cr-Mn-Ni Stainless Steel

The influence of nitrogen (0 to 0.27 wtYo) on martensite formation in an experimental low-nickel stainless-steel alloy (Fe-17Cr-7Mn-4Ni) has been investigated. The alloys containing 0.1 wtYo or more nitrogen are fully austenitic at room temperature; those containing less nitrogen consist of a mixture of austenite, martensite and S-ferrite. The alloys containing less than 0.2 wtYo nitrogen are m...

Kinetics of the bainite transformation

A theory is developed for the evolution of bainite as a function of time, temperature, chemical composition and austenite grain size. The model takes into account the details of the mechanism of transformation, including the fact that nucleation begins at the austenite grain surfaces, and that the growth of a sheaf occurs by the repeated nucleation of small platelets. Predictions made using the...

Effect of austenite grain size and bainite morphology on overall kinetics of bainite transformation in steels

The effect of austenite grain size on the evolution of the bainite transformation in steels is not yet certain in spite of many investigations.1–7 Barford and Owen1 reported that the reaction rate was accelerated by decreasing the grain size, because of an increase in the number density of grain boundary nucleation sites. Umemoto et al.2 reported similar results and proposed an equation that de...
